A centre should make it clear who is responsible for decisions and whom to contact. Ask how your usual nephrologist and the dialysis team coordinate care.
Access, monitoring and safety
Ask which access types the team can support and how access is assessed before treatment. Ask how staff monitor you during a session, what happens if the machine alarms or you feel unwell, and which emergency arrangements are in place.
You can also ask how equipment is cleaned, how infection prevention is maintained and how concerns are recorded and followed up. The centre should be able to explain its process in plain language.

Request a written explanation of what a standard session fee includes and which items are billed separately. Ask whether consultation, laboratory tests, medicines, access procedures, admission, blood products or extra consumables could add charges, and how estimates are communicated.
